Hello fellow Bloggers,
For this month i wanted to take in a suggestion of a movie that i was given, but i changed my mind because I saw a movie, which truly captivated me. This movie is "Seven Pounds” staring will Smith. Seven pounds, what does that bring to mind? Seven Pounds of sugar, the weight of a kid, or maybe weight of small TV. Well No in the movie Seven Pounds, will Smith is a man who set out to change the life of seven strangers.
“Seven Pounds” is a difficult movie to understand. You must pay attention to what is happening word by word. In the beginning of the movie he is wet, tired, and desperate. In a hotel room he calls 911 his exact words in the call are,” I need an ambulance, that’s room number 2, there’s been a suicide, and I am the victim...” The beginning of the movie begins with the ending. Will smith in the movie begins being a cold heartless man. He has nothing to live for. Through out the whole movie it is like he is searching for something like redemption. You may ask yourself redemption for what? Well they do not explain until the middle of the movie that it was his fault his wife and son along with a another family of five died. He was a successful man which attended MIT, he had a good life and he ruined his life by something as careless as checking his email. I believe that this movie is truly an astounding movie; this movie contains a lot of meaning and a lot of heart. Through out the movie he dedicates himself to finding seven people whose life he can change.
Now about the rhetoric, In Seven Pounds Will Smith uses astounding devices in order to achieve his goal and finding the seven people who he believes deserve the change that he will bring upon them. He is trying to find people who he believes are “good”. He uses pathos to play with there feelings in order to see the reactions that will be brought upon the other. Through out the movie you can also see ethos in one occasion, which is when he goes to the hospital, and the man is treating the patients inhumanly in order to get a revenue. He used his view of a respectable doctor and a leader to almost trick will smith into helping him with the debts he has. “Seven Pounds” is a must see. I truly recommend this movie to anyone who believes in the magic of movies and there powers to influence others.
